Bramble Hollow Farm

At Bramble Hollow Farm, we'd love to be your local source for pastured poultry, pastured pork, and eggs from free ranging hens! Specializing in heritage breeds of chickens, turkeys, and hogs we're committed to growing these wonderful animal breeds and to using GMO-free feeds. We're located just east of the Blue Ridge in Montvale, Virginia, so we're convenient to Roanoke, Bedford and Smith Mountain Lake. On the farm we raise several breeds of chickens. We're excited to be the only farm in the area to offer true heritage breed meat chickens. The meat breed we're raising for 2014 is the Plymouth Barred Rocks. We also raise Freedom Rangers and the Cornish Cross broiler. Heritage breed chickens are the breeds that would've been on American farms in the 1900's. These breeds have an unbelievable flavor and density. The Freedom Ranger is a slow growing breed derived from European stock that has a more traditional, dark meat taste. The Cornish Cross broiler is a quick growing, large- breasted breed. Our chickens have 24-hour access to pasture with fresh green grass and juicy grubs. They supplement their forage with a custom-milled grain made with GMO-free corn, soybeans, oats and other goodies. We process our birds here on the farm several times each year. We also feature heritage breed turkeys. The taste of pastured Bourbon Red, Narragansetts, Midget Whites, and Black Spanish turkeys can't be beat. Our Tamworth hogs are raised on pasture and in forest paddocks right next to the chickens and turkeys and finished on whole corn and acorns. Pork is sold by the cut or off-the-hoof as half or whole hogs. We're home to laying hens that produce rich-tasting brown eggs all year long!
