Description
Our farm is in the rolling hills of Madison County, Iowa. As the name Burr Oak Farm suggests, we have many burr oak trees as well as others. Since trees grow well we are planting more - an orchard of apple, peach, plum, cherry, apricot, pear, and nectarine trees. We have about a thousand fruit trees in various stages of growth and production. We seem to have an inclination to expose the public to many heritage apple varieties as well as some tasty new ones. We are trying our hand at blackberries and a few grapes and currents. We also harvest from our wild cherry trees and the wild plums. We are learning about the best use of our small green house and are experimenting in a small way with selling some vegetable and bedding plants.
