Our egg farm was started in 2010 with 12 chicks as a way to provide fresh wholesome eggs for our family. Owning our own produce business (KROENING AND SONS WHOLESALE PRODUCE) serving some of the finest Chinese American restaurants in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin gives us access to fresh vegetables year round which make up a large part of the chickens diet. Steamed rice donated from a local restaurant and layer feed bought from a local feed dealer balance out their diet. Our hens are cage free and thanks to portable electric poultry fencing moved as needed are free range. All of the above makes for some very tasty eggs. The demand for these eggs from friends, family, neighbors, etc. lead us to put an eggstand at the end of the driveway and we are now up to 200 hens and counting.
