Description

At Damali we grow and process lavender into essential oil as well as drying it for a line of over 75 handmade products which are sold in our farm gate shop. We make hand & body products, bath products, culinary products and artisan crafts using all natural practices. At the Damali Lavender Shop visitors can purchase items that make an ideal choice for gift items that are truly locally grown and handmade. We have a very unique and culturally diverse operation as we welcome travelers from around the world to work and live on our farm. They have gained valuable and often life changing experiences and we have benefited from their individual cultural ideas which have helped to shape our changing landscape. The lavender farm, which was a run down sheep farm when it was purchased in 2005 is successful in large part due to the input of these young travelers from around the world. Our lavender is planted using landscape fabric and sand to hold in the heat and reduce weeds as we use no chemicals on our lavender crop. It is all harvested by hand at its peak and processed fresh in our 100 gallon steam distillation system to produce 100% pure essential oil of two different varieties Our lavender product was featured at Tourism Vancouver Islands 2008 Annual Convention and our farm was featured with 4 beautiful pages in the 2010 Fall issue of British Columbia magazine. Visitors to Damali can experience a self guided farm tour in the fields of 25 different varieties of lavender, through the vineyard and gardens, browse in the boutique farm shop or just sit and take the time to breathe it all in. Our 7 circuit labyrinth rises up out of the ground in natural mossy burms. It and it's accompanying rose arbour gazebo are situated among 2000 Provence lavender plants and has become a wonderful setting for weddings and special events. Those who stay in the B&B will enjoy luxurious accommodation overlooking the farm with ocean and mountain views, all natural handmade lavender spa products and country breakfasts including farm fresh products and culinary lavender treats served on the verandah of the French inspired farmhouse. The Damali winery opened in the Spring of 2011 and visitors welcomed for tasting and sales. We have a licensed picnic area where people can bring their picnic lunch and enjoy a bottle of Damali wine overlooking the farm and watching the daily activities on a working farm. We have grape and fruit wines some with lavender! Damali is centrally located in the beautiful Cowichan wine country on Vancouver Island, which has been compared to Provence by world class chefs. Take the time to 'Indulge your Senses and Savour the Lifestyle' with a visit or a stay with us at a working lavender farm & vineyard.
