Description

Eckerton Hill Farm is the project of farmer and writer Tim Stark who has been growing a wide variety of specialty and heirloom fruits and vegetables since 1995. The farm is best known for its more than 100 varieties of juicy heirloom tomatoes and fiery peppers of every shape and hue. With Tim's purchase of the historic Angstadt farm, a beautiful 58 acre hillside farm sitting atop the Oley valley in Lobachsville, PA, Eckerton Hill will continue to supply New York's finest restaurants and the Union Square Greenmarket while also digging deeper roots within the local community of Berks County. Eckerton Hill Farm's CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) harvest-share program is one way we are establishing this link. Members receive weekly distributions of the farm's harvest, and customize their shares with add-ons such as bread, cheese, meat, eggs and honey, all from local producers. More information can be found on our website, www.eckertonhillfarm.com. Growing practices at Eckerton Hill hold to a "back yard" approach which we feel is organic without being certified. None of our produce is sprayed with chemical herbicides or fertilizers, and we use mild fungicides only as absolutely necessary on our tomato crop to protect from late blight. Cover cropping, crop rotation, and composting are all part of our growing practices, which we hope will help our land thrive for years to come. "Dinner in the Dell" is the farm's way of bringing together food enthusiasts from the region in a celebration of the season's bounty. The table is set in the field, on the same earth where the day's harvest was grown - the secluded, lush dell is the ideal setting for this farm to table gathering. Check our website for upcoming farm events, including educational workshops, pick-your-own family outings and of course, farm-to-table gatherings.
