Description
We raise 100% grass-fed Scottish Highland beef just outside of State College, PA! Our cattle are raised naturally and are never given antibiotics or hormones. Our pastures are never sprayed with herbicides or pesticides. Our goal is to produce exceptionally delicious beef that is raised in the healthiest way possible for you, for the cattle, and for the land. Highland Cattle are a hardy and efficient heritage breed of cattle originating, as the name suggests, from the wet, cold climate and rugged landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. They have a thick double coat, which allows them to have less insulating fat around their bodies. Instead, their meat is well-marbled, even on grass. Even so, their meat has tested lower in cholesterol and fat than other beef. Of course, the best thing about Highland beef is the taste! Highlands have performed exceptionally well in taste tests. Oklahoma State University describes Highland cattle's flavor this way: "For over 20 years, the Highland and Highland crosses have graded in the top of their respective classes at the prestigious National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. In the British Isles, Highland beef is recognized as the finest available and fetches premium prices. The British Royal family keeps a large herd of Highlands at Balmoral Castle, near Braemar, Scotland, and considers them their beef animal of choice." Our customers have confirmed this over and over. They tell us Bergenblick beef is some of the best they've ever tasted! We agree and think you will, too!
