Description

Down home farm is a small family farm, Jesse Downs, Liz Voz, and our four boys, Otto, Ivan, and Leland, and Harlan. We raise peaches in high tunnels (the only folks in the upper Midwest to do this, as far as I know). We also have an apple orchard with about thirty varieties of heirloom and modern apples, including Honeycrisp. We also raise garlic and sorghum and make old fashioned sorghum syrup. In addition, we raise a few acres of open pollinated and feed out some hogs for meat and most years we have small square bales of straw and hat for sale. We are not certified organic, but are committed to natural growing processes and use no GMOs or antibiotics, and no herbicides or pesticides not approved for organic use. We sell or products at the Viroqua Farmers Market and to local people and businesses. We try to mix old fashioned elbow grease and old iron with the best new science and innovations, and have fun doing it!
