Description
Located an hour northeast of Austin off State Hwy. 21, Edendell Farms specializes in both seasonal and off-season produce sold to individual customers in the Austin and Bryan-College Station areas. Known for its winter greenhouse crop of tomatoes, sweet red peppers and mild chiles, Edendell is expanding its field and greenhouse planting for 2011 and is currently accepting additional HarvestSHARE (CSA) subscriptions. Customers can expect more tomatoes and peppers varieties along with cucumbers, assorted squashes, onions, salad greens, carrots, and a variety of other traditional seasonal crops. Three levels of HarvestSHARE are available: farmer's bag ($9/wk for 3-4 items), double bagger ($18/wk for 5-7 items), or full SHARE ($35/wk for 7-10 items). Subscriptions are prepaid for 12 weeks subscriptions. Edendell Farms will customize HarvestSHARE deliveries to meet dietary restrictions due to medical needs. We are dedicated to promoting healthy eating habits and expanding food production in both rural and urban areas. We offer monthly cooking and gardening classes through the My Neighborhood Garden program ( featured on Facebook). We welcome visitors to tour our demonstration garden designed to be adaptable to urban settings. For those who wish to pursue urban agriculture, we are developing a model gardener program. We offer a two-year Farmshare program designed to train and support new farmers on both the art of growing and the business of farming. The program is designed to not only train but also help our graduates start their own farms. We also accept interns through the WWOOF program and from among our HarvestSHARE members.
