Description

Since 1988, the Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm has provided an opportunity for a community of people to support a local farm. Our award-winning CSA was the first in New Jersey and one of the first in the Northeast. Today, our three full-time farmers share a wealth of experience and knowledge. A share includes a huge variety and quantity of delicious vegetables with some berries, flowers and fruits. We employ completely organic methods and do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. We welcome volunteer labor, but members are not required to work on the land. Members generally come to our Gardenhouse distribution center to pick up harvested vegetables either weekly or every other week. While we do not deliver our produce, we do have self-organizing pick-up groups in NJ. Currently located in Teaneck, Montclair, Caldwell, Morristown, Verona, Maplewood/South Orange, Scotch Plains, Parsippany and Glen Rock, these groups are an excellent option for those who live at a distance. New groups are enthusiastically received. Thanks to our multiple greenhouses and root cellars, vegetables are available year-round. We also have half-year shares. Sign-ups for the shares begin early in the year. We maintain a waiting list so please contact us at any time of the year if you're interested. Commitment forms, a brochure, and a list of crops can be downloaded from our website. We also have an excellent half-year apprenticeship program and we encourage those who are serious about farming to refer to the website for more information.. The Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm is passionate about sustainable agriculture. Our work not only enhances the quality of the soil, but also the quality of our relationships to the land and each other. It is a beautiful, family-friendly place. Come on out and visit -- a call in advance is helpful.
