Description

Crabtree Farm is a non-profit organization connecting Chattanoogans to our local foodshed. Programs at Crabtree Farms include an urban farm, outreach training series, a CSA program, and educational opportunities including internships & volunteering. We offer field trips and farm tours for individuals, schools & organizations. From late June through July, we offer "U-Pick": blackberries & blueberries. Anyone is welcome to visit the farm and pick their own fruits! Crabtree sells it's sustainably-grown produce locally at our on-site Farm Stand and at the Main Street Farmer's Market. Several local restaurants also feature Crabtree Farms produce. Additionally, our on-site Farm Stand offers co-op items such as local honey, plants, and seeds. We have many opportunities for you to get involved. Please visit our website at www.crabtreefarms.org for more information. In 1998 Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga Inc. was started by Will and McNair Bailey. The Farm property has been in agricultural use for about 200 years. In 1998 the 22 acre property was donated to the City of Chattanooga by the Crabtree/McGauley families with the coordination assistance of The Trust for Public Land. Crabtree Farms retains the agricultural heritage of the land and invites the public to visit and learn. The Urban Farm at Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga is sustainably cultivated using sustainable growing methods. All produce purchased from the farm is chemical free and cared for by hand, from seed to harvest. Crabtree cultivates 10 acres and grows approximately 150 vegetable, herb, and flower crops. The products are sold to CSA participants, retail customers, and wholesale to local restaurants, grocer, and florists.
