Description
Bashaw Valley Farm and Greenhouse began as a dream back in 1981 after Steve purchased the family farm from his parents. Bashaw Valley Farm first started out as a dairy operation. After several years of dairy farming Steve & Linda realized if the family farm was to survive, they needed to diversify. Bashaw Valley Greenhouse sprouted in 1987 after purchasing a used greenhouse and rebuilding it along with a retail shop, on the family farm. Never taking the easy road, in 1990 one acre of half-high organically grown blueberries were added to the mix. Since then three more greenhouses have been added as well as 3/4 acre of raspberries, 2/3 of an acre of strawberries and a 10th of an acre of asparagus. They are also experimenting with a small fruit orchard consisting of cherries, pears and plums. At Bashaw Valley animals have always been an important part of the farm. In 1995 the dairy was replaced with a beef cow-calf operation. After a few frustrating years of selling the calves as feeder's another business idea developed. In 2009 the they began to direct market the animals as all natural Grass-fed Angus Beef. Retail cuts are now available in the shop as well as custom orders. Any remaining animals are marketed through the Wisconsin Grass-fed Beef Co-op, this meat is sold in the Madison, Milwaukee and surrounding areas. All the animals are raised in the great outdoors on the farms rolling pastures and fed hay during the winter months. Their is no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides used on the pastures or hay fields. The lean healthy Angus Beef contains no growth hormones or antibiotics. New for 2013 we now offer on line ordering and shipping of our frozen meat & berries only to speedee delivery area. Our farm is a relaxed country setting and we welcome each and everyone of you to come & experience Bashaw Valley Farm & Greenhouse. Visit our website for more information! Both Steve & Linda have always been concerned about the environment. They use all organic practices on their beef and fruit operations and use no chemical pesticides or herbicides in threir greenhouse operation.
