Backyard Gardens is a small market garden operation located by the beautiful Wallowa Mountains in northeastern Oregon. Our goal is to produce high quality, nutritious, and beautiful produce in an environmentally and socially friendly manner for the community. Currently, we seek to accomplish this on 2 acres in the town of Joseph. We supply quality produce to our rural community through farmers markets, CSA, direct sales, restaurants, and several retail stores. We grow a wide variety of crops, though specialize in salad mixes and greens. Though not certified organic, the farm attempts to follow the guidelines of organic growing practices, using natural biological systems and no pesticides or herbicides. We have an apprenticeship program, training new farmers in the growing practices of a small, intensive market garden. In addition to our traditional CSA share, we also offer a cut flower share, a salad mix share, and a farmers' market share.
