Description
Featherstone Farm Andrew and Michelle Macdonald run a mixed ecological farm nestled in the hamlet of Lowville, Burlington. Having moved from their first farm in nassagewaya township last fall, they are still in the process of developing their farm systems to the fullest potential, but are always hard at work making things better. They care for a small herd of dairy and meat goats, a group of tamworth pigs, a whole gaggle of heritage chickens, turkeys and ducks as well as one cow named Alice, a dog named Daisy and a few barn cats to round out the crew. Their animals are all ethically raised, on pasture with fresh green grass when possible, and with GMO-free feed supplemented by table scraps and other goodies. They aim to be beyond organic leaning towards biodynamic and permaculture practices. Depending on the season, they can offer, eggs, pork, goat, chicken, duck, chemical free veggies (many intriguing heirloom varieties), homemade local goat milk soap (99% local ingredients), and some other fun creations as well. Andrew and Michelle are both graduates from the Environmental Science program at the university of Guelph and Michelle is also a holistic nutritionist and hopes to be able to offer some value added farm yummies as soon as she can. They are open year round, farm gate sales only (working on our farm store now), and welcome visitors whenever they are around. We hope you can visit! 6261 Guelph Line, Burlington 289-337-3375
