Description

In 1960, Don and Genora Dennison, with their children, Wayve (that's me) and Frank, moved from the family farm in Ohio to "The Switch", as it was locally known, in Elora, TN, just 30 miles north of Huntsville, Al. This is a historic farm that even has its own ghost story. Our family has spent the last half century as stewards of the soil and the wildlife on it. About half of our land is in managed timberland, some in row crops, some resting, and we plant over 50 acres of fruits and vegetables. Frank came home to the farm about 25 years ago, and this is my 7th year commuting from GA. We are truly a three-generation farm family, as Frank's Parker and Patrick and my Jesse and Nettie Grace worked here on their breaks from university; now that they have all graduated, they will be here whenever they can. Their pictures are on our web site. CSA: Most people know us for our strawberries, but in 2009 we started a CSA, with delivery sites in southern TN and northern AL. I'm sorry to say that we have decided to take 2014 off from our CSA. However, we plan to sell strawberries and veggies at our farm market as usual. By eating fresh, local food, you are supporting not only the local growers and your own health, but the health of your community. Veggies that cannot be sold are contributed to the gleaners at The Society of St. Andrew, to Manna House, or other worthy institutions. Please support your local farmers and craftspeople. Come join us on the farm for some mighty fine eatin'!
