Description
We are a nearly retired couple who have a small herd of Belted Galloway beef cows and are now trying our hand at a small "pastured poultry" enterprise. Our first flock of chickens processed out at about 6 lbs. a bird. Our friends and family enjoy the fact they were raised without hormones, antibiotics or animal by-products. We just finished processing the last of the Red Ranger chickens. They dressed out between 4 and 5 lb. The dark to white meat is more normally distributed than the Cornish Rock Cross, which are bred especially to produce a large percent of white breast meat. Both are very flavorful birds. We have both breeds available (frozen) for sale. We also have a small barn-yard flock of laying hens who have free range of the farm and provide us with the most delicious orange-yoked eggs. We have owned our little haven for over 30 years and have made it our home for the past 15 years. You can visit our FB page listed under Doug and Jane's Woodhaven Farm. Come take a look.
