Description

Birch Creek Farms is located in scenic western Atoka County, along the Clear Boggy River and Birch Creek. The rich, fertile, sandy loam soils deposited by these two drainages provide the ideal environment for forage production, as well as fruit and vegetable production. We utilized "sustainable agriculture" and organic practices to produce the highest quality, grass-fed beef, lamb, poultry, eggs, and farm fresh produce available. Located near the town of Wapanucka, our farm consists of approximately 700 diverse acres, both leased and owned, that have been in our family for four generations. At Birch Creek Farms, we grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, pecans, and grass fed lamb, beef, poultry, and eggs. Many of these fruits and vegetable varieties were grown on the farm by our earlier generations. Our produce selection includes heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, sweet corn, purple hull and cream crowder peas, green beans, summer and winter squash, pumpkin, cucumber, watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, okra, new potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, pecans, and much, much more. During the Autumn Harvest we offer a pumpkin patch, maze, hay ride, petting zoo, a bounce house, and other exciting activities for the kids to enjoy. Pumpkins are available prepicked or in our u-pick pumpkin patch. We also offer many other fall ornamentals such as gourds, indian corn, corn stalks, straw bales, and mums. We are offering CSA memberships for the 2013 growing season. From May-October, members will receive 12 weekly shares of our delicious, fresh produce, pastured free-range, eggs, and grass-finished meats. Deliveries are available in the North Texas (Dallas/Plano/Frisco/McKinney) and Southern Oklahoma area. Weekly shares will be comprised of what is currently "in season". Birch Creek Farms offers all natural grass-fed and finished lamb from our flock of registered Katahdin Hair Sheep. Our lambs are 100% grass-fed and finished on native and improved pastures, as well as annual plantings of cool season forage such as wheat, ryegrass, and brassicas. We also offer Red Angus beef born and raised at Birch Creek Farms on our lush, productive pastures. Our newest addition for 2013 is pastured free-range eggs, as well as pastured poultry (broiler chickens and Holiday turkey). At Birch Creek Farms, our goal is to provide you with a wide variety of healthy, farm fresh, high-quality meats and produce while maintaining a sustainable, healthy, productive agroecosystem.
