Description

Fledgling Farmstead is a new venture located on an historic 190-acre farm of fields and forest in Tunbridge, Vermont. We are working to reinvigorate diversity and productivity on the land through a collaboration of fledgling and experienced farmers, skills, and pursuits. Fledgling Farmstead is an event space for workshops and other celebratory events that are nourished by the farm's produce and stunning landscape. (See our event's calendar for current workshops.) Our farm's primary offerings include education, connection, and inspiration for visitors. In this way, we propagate greater sustainability in our local and regional community. Our farm also includes a productive garden of annual and perennial vegetables and herbs. We offer culinary herbs, potted plants, and season vegetables, fruits, and grass-fed beef and lamb for sale on the farm, local farmer's markets, and as a CSA. We are blessed to maintain the rich plantings of fruits trees and other perennials planted by previous owners including many medicinal species. We manage our pastures with a small herd of heritage breed cows for milk and beef production and a mixed-breed flock of sheep for meat. We manage a large forest of mixed hard- and soft-wood species for firewood, timber, and maple syrup production. We share our home and farm space with Villa Villekula Farm, a new goat dairy venture and have plans to develop a community commercial kitchen for food processing and value-added products in the near future.
