Description

Coonamessett Farm is a membership farm that is also open to the general public from May through December. Members, and guests that buy a day pass ($8/person age 3 and older), can come onto the farm and pick their own vegetables, berries, flowers, and herbs. We grow multiple vegetable crops in rotation in established rows that provide easy access to pickers. We routinely acquire research grants and contracts to develop new agricultural methods for small farms and harvest methods for commercial fisheries. We have permanent crops of blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries in addition to our vegetable crops. We have 6 greenhouses and 3 types of hydroponic systems in which we grow lettuce, greens, basil, tomatoes and cucumbers. Our farm stand also has a cafe that is open daily and serves vegetarian dishes made from our farm grown produce. We also host summer evening buffets including a Jamaican buffet on Wednesday nights, a Family Farm Dinner (including a vegetarian buffet and local meat from the grill) on Friday nights, and special event buffets on Saturday nights. We put on many special events during the season including: themed dinner evenings, holiday brunches, Childrens' Farm Program, Summer Speaker Series, Educational and School Tours, Pumpkin Decorating Days, Artisans Fairs and a Flea Market. We host unique Cape Cod weddings, receptions, children's birthday parties, and other events. Our farm has an assortment of animals for our members and visitors to enjoy including alpacas, goats, sheep, miniature donkeys, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl and ducks.
