Description

This is an old farm, 1825, with many original farm buildings surrounded by the Muscoot Park, the Lasdon Park and New York City watershed land with a beautiful view down the Muscoot River Valley. It has been in Marian's family since 1967. Marian and Larry started to actively farm it in 2005 fencing, tilling, and amending the soil on approximately 5 acres of open land. In 2006, the Crosses installed irrigation, planted one acre in raspberries and 4 acres in vegetables for the most part using a 100 foot by 100 foot block system. The primary crop is raspberries, summer (taylors) and fall (carolines) which are harvested through a u-pik system. Over 1,000 pounds of garlic are sold each year, large amounts of bagged greens and arugula and heirloom tomatoes as well as summer and winter squash, green beans, pumpkins, and a variety of other vegetables. Products are available at local markets and at a farm stand on the property open on a scheduled basis --July through October. Call the 24 hour hotline 914-245-2319 for opening hours and product availability. The farm is very child friendly offering 'hay rides' to all who come. We also have chickens and sell fresh eggs and operate a flower u-pik in the late summer.
