LocalScale to launch first-of-its-kind platform to foster development of sustainable local economies on the blockchain

LONDON -- March 31, 2021 at 7 am EST -- LocalScale (https://localscale.org), an organization dedicated to the development of resilient and sustainable local communities, today announced it will launch its platform on Telos (https://www.telos.net), one of the most active blockchain platforms in the world according to Blocktivity. LocalScale is leveraging the Telos blockchain to build a robust ecosystem that connects numerous stakeholders in the area of regenerative economy, including individuals, local governments and organizations.

Designed to function as an operating system for impact-positive organizations, LocalScale leverages technology, science and regenerative activities to accelerate development of bioregional economies that support important ecological processes. The organization is dedicated to facilitating connections between communities, cooperatives, farms and eco-villages, and has built relationships with key impact-positive partners that include Hypha, Regen Network, SeedLinked, GrassRoots Economics, and Zero FoodPrint, among many others.

With a focus on implementing measurable and efficient solutions locally that improve natural and human ecosystems, the platform incentivizes members to launch or participate in impact-positive initiatives and supports organisations providing innovative approaches to increase systemic community resilience.

LocalScale is supported by a grant from the Telos Foundation, with Telos providing blockchain infrastructure and development resources for the project.

"We're proud to announce that our regenerative and ecology-focused project has found a home on Telos Blockchain," said Cliff Johnson, co-founder of LocalScale. "Our partnership enables LocalScale to leverage Telos' significant capabilities including fundraising via T-Bond NFTs, and the creation of a DHO (Decentralized Human Organization) via the Telos Decide governance engine. Through support from Telos, LocalScale is another step closer to realizing its mission to globalize local resilience."

"A shift towards more ecologically sustainable and economically progressive practices is growing as people across the planet become painfully aware of the shortcomings of the extractive economies that harm our very ability to to sustain comfortable human existence on Earth. Regenerative economies are growing and gaining broader acceptance, and Telos is a perfect home for these," said Douglas Horn, Telos Chief Architect. "LocalScale brings critical products, services and funding to the many regenerative projects deploying on Telos--amplifying their impact. I?m very proud to see this movement grow on Telos, which is highly aligned with these principles as a low-carbon blockchain providing tools for more equitable economies and governance."
