OUR MISSION To provide fresh, organic, great tasting, nutrient-rich microgreens to Sacramento County and surrounding areas at an affordable price. OUR PROMISE At GourmetnGreens both health and the environment are of the utmost importance to us. This is why we take every step to ensure that our products are of the highest quality. The soil that the microgreens are grown in is 100% organic, and we never use artificial growing mediums. The seeds used are 100% organic and GMO free. The water used to feed the plants has been run through a filtration system to ensure that our plants are receiving the cleanest water possible. No pesticides or herbicides are ever used during any stage of the growing process. SUSTAINABILITY Sustainable agriculture is extremely important for the environment and the future of the human race. The goal of sustainable practices is to coexist with the environment rather than destroy it. Hundreds of thousands of acres of land are being destroyed every year for the purposes of agriculture. This is being done to keep up with the demand of the ever growing human population. Since microgreens are grown vertically, they require much less space when compared to traditional farming. The combination of less growing space paired with a significantly higher nutritional value means that microgreens are capable of nourishing many more people all while using far less land. In addition to this, we are working on using packaging that is 100% biodegradable and compostable. It may look like your standard plastic carton, but it is actually made of eco friendly and renewable Polylactic Acid (PLA), a resin made from corn starch, tapioca, or sugar cane. While typical petroleum based plastic can take thousands of years to breakdown, PLA only takes about 45-90 days. And since it is made from natural and renewable plant sources, it is not leaching toxic chemicals into your food or the environment.
