Description
Hollyhawk Farm and Homestead is located in Canby, OR on a piece of land called Natural Harvest. Natural Harvest is a part of the Oregon Sustainable Agriculture Land Trust and we look forward to getting to know this land while growing food for our community. You can learn more about OSALT and some of the history of Natural Harvest on OSALT's website, www.osalt.org. There have been many sustainable agriculture projects done here over the years including building roosts and houses for raptors, and there are two beautiful resident hawks here. We moved here as Farmer/Researchers for OSALT in 2015 and started Hollyhawk Farm and Homestead. We found our hands full with established, although somewhat neglected, orchards and over 100 grape vines. Our focus for 2016 is the health of the fruit trees and grapevines as well as establishing a successful grazing rotation for our sheep and goats. We are also focusing on raising our daughter, Holly, and decided to fill our big cold frame with things she loves to eat: strawberries, melons and tomatoes! This year we will be offering a fruit CSA, as we found this to be our customers favorite part of our harvest last year, and it fits nicely in line with our goals for the coming year. As an OSALT protected land, and based on our own beliefs about food and farming, all of our farming practices are organic and chemical free. Our produce is Certified Naturally Grown and we hope to expand by farming cooperatively with others to offer a variety of products in your CSA share in subsequent seasons.
