D&M Farms

D&M Farms is a small, family owned and operated farm focusing on naturally raised pastured livestock in Hickory, Louisiana. Although our farm has worked as a hay farm since 1973, we have broken the mold and are embarking on a new venture to raise livestock naturally. Our first focus is pasture raised poultry for meat and eggs. Our chickens are protected inside of an open bottom pen that is moved once a day to a fresh plot of land to forage for foliage and bugs, which make up 30% of their diet. The other 70% is a special vegetarian feed naturally formulated for their high protein needs. No added medication, antibiotics, or hormones are given. The second part of the story is we have an inspected processing facility on the farm. This has two big benefits. one, the chickens not to be under stress. Two, processing is slow enough to insure safe handling of the bird which allows us not to use sanitizers in the water, just fresh well water. Our end product is a healthy, happy bird straight from the farm to the plate.
