Description

Crabby Goat Farm is a small family homestead in Springfield Township, just southeast of Akron. Welcome to our home! We are beginning the long journey of becoming a self sustaining farm from scratch. We haven't been here for generations, but we're hoping to say so in the future! We started this adventure to have more control over our food so we could have the best health for us and our animals, and now we hope to pass this all on to others. Here on our homestead we pasture our animals: chickens and ducks for eggs, broiler chickens, turkeys, ducks, and goats for raw milk and meat. Right now, we focus on meat and dairy, although fruits, veggies, jams and jellies, baked goods, salves & lotions, herbal teas, and other items are available from time to time. We are building our gardens and orchard constantly, adding new plants and cultivating the existing wild growing ones. We aim to be stewards of the land. We are small, and know and love each one of our critters. We keep GMOs off our land and out of our house as much as possible. Grain is from a local mill (all grain is non certified gmo free), hay for the winter is bought from local small farmers, and we keep out all soy as much as we can. The animals enjoy all the benefits of silvopasture (pasture that includes the woods and all the bugs and different plants of the forest, and making the land healthier in the process). Our goats are given fresh browse in our meadow and woods as they help us to eradicate all the invasive plants on the farm, and are fed a small amount of grain, seeds, and herbs for the milking does. Our dogs and cats (protectors of the animals and feed) are given as much freedom as we can give them and are fed home cooked stews. Thank you for giving us the chance to feed your family well! While not open to the public on a regular basis, feel free to ask to visit if you are interested in a flockshare or herdshare, or if you just want to see what we're doing! The children and animals will love to show you around.
